I spent my childhood in Rockville, Maryland and then Davis, California listening to the comedy albums of Bob Newhart, Bill Cosby, Robert Klein, George Carlin, Woody Allen, Albert Brooks and Steve Martin... all at the same time, which was unusual. They were on huge, vinyl discs (similar to black licorice) and we listened to them on something called a "phonograph." I religiously watched David Letterman, Monty Python, SNL and SCTV.

Watching comedy and listening to comedians was the only thing that made me feel sane. I think I'm one of the few people who did not enjoy high school.

I graduated from UC Berkeley with a drama degree (they didn’t have a comedy major) and headed to Los Angeles to be an actor and stand up comedian. Los Angeles was wowed, as no one had ever done this before.

After 3 years of open mike nights, the desire to tell the same jokes over and over again died a slow death. Not knowing what else to do, I took an Improv class at THE GROUNDLINGS.  Zing-A-Ling Bing!  I felt like I had found my home. I worked my way up into the Sunday company and finally the Main Company where I wrote and performed my own sketches for 8 years. All at the same time, which was unusual.

I found that I also love teaching Improv and continue to do so at the Groundlings. I started my own private sketch writing class, which I teach at my home. I love helping frightened writers calm down and believe in their talent.

I have always loved the movies and now write screenplays. I live with my beloved Marisa, and a cat named Garbo. I love longboard surfing, Paris, the Golden State Warriors, Liverpool FC and really peaty Islay scotch.
